About: When Dennis invited me to his studio, he wanted to transform my woodcuts into screenprints. I gawked! He promised me that they would look different from the woodcuts, and he was right.
.
We reproduced the woodcut as the base image. The screenprint, however, has a crayon look because I made additional stencils with crayons.
.
Close to the end of the process, the print needed an extra "kick". So for the last color (black), Dennis suggested that I draw with a wax crayon directly on the silkscreen. He wasn't sure how long the wax would last with the printing, but it worked for the number of copies we made.
.
Dennis loved experimenting, which is why he developed so many new techniques!
