About: When I told Dennis that I don't really like solid flat colors nor making lots of copies of the same thing---two cornerstones of screenprinting---it was almost like saying "I don't like screenprinting". He barked, "What are you doing here?!"
.
He was teasing me. Ha! Dennis was known for making screenprints with a painterly feel, and had a talent for pushing the boundary between screenprint and monoprint.
.
In this series, we wanted to capture the feel of light reflecting in the water. So he would print a blue, then I would strip the paint before it dried. We repeated this several times.
.
The stripping spontaneously added texture, depth, and an organic feel. And because you can't control how the paint strips, all the prints in this series look a little different. See! I was in the right place.
