About: This was the last print Dennis and I worked on together. (NOT the last in this series, though!)
.
When we first started collaborating, we experimented allot, which makes sense. I didn't know what I was doing, and we were learning each other's aesthetics. During the middle of our collaboration, we found a rhythm and made several beautiful prints. Close to the end, with the pressure off, it was time to cut up again!
.
Rather than always printing solid, flat colors, Dennis sometimes used the squeegee as a giant "brush". He partially painted a screen, added a color, partially painted the screen again, etc. Or he would simultaneously apply more than one color, and blend them on the screen. All that produced prints with a "painterly" feel---my favorite!
.
The textures in this print are a combination of things I drew, the paint stripping technique, and Dennis "painting" with a squeegee.
